After Three years of detention in Al-Mukalla prison. Release of Islah leader “Duqail" and 8 others

A leader of the Islah party in Hadramawt, Awad al- Duqail, was released Thursday evening after nearly three years of detention at a prison of the UAE forces in the Hadramawt coastline.

Al- Duqail was arrested from his home on June 10, 2016 by elite Hadrami forces, which were established and supervised by the UAE forces without any legal justification and held in a prison belonging to the UAE forces at al-Rayyan International Airport, which was transformed by the UAE forces into a military base of their troops who entered Yemen within Arab coalition forces.

A year after the prosecutor's release directives in March last year, 2018, the UAE officer continued to refuse to implement those directives.

The engineer Awad Ahmed al- Duqail is one of the known social and political figures in the city of Mukalla and its suburbs, elected a member of the local council in the city of Mukalla, he held an official  position for the May 22, and works in  the leadership of the Executive Office to reform “Islah” party in  Hadramawt, and a financial and administrative director of its office at Al-Mukalla.

In the same vein, eight others who were arrested on charges of belonging to al-Qaeda were released, and  the court acquitted them after the security authorities failed to provide any evidence of their association with al-Qaeda.
