Yemeni government announces seizure of arms shipment in the possession of an Omani citizen at Shehn border port


The Yemeni government on Wednesday seized a shipment of arms and explosives on board a vehicle driven by an Omani national who is in the border with Yemen and is affiliated with the province of al-Mahra (Far east of Yemen).

The Government Information Center, spokesman for the local authority in Al-Mahhra Governorate, said that security services at Shehn border port have arrested a shipment of arms and explosives in a car driven  by an Omani citizen, Mohammed Saeed Mohsen Qmasit and holds a driving license issued by the General Directorate of Traffic in Oman police, Salalah Branch.

The center accused in its news, which was monitored by "Al-Masdar online " What it  described as "anti-Yemen", referring to the Sultanate of Oman, to try to smuggle these weapons "through its agents to the Houthis in Sana'a, and provide them with types of weapons to kill the Yemeni people" according to the Media Center.

It  explained that the consignment of arms and explosives captured contains (340) explosive bazooka head and 140 thousand rounds of ammunition for Kalashnikov  .

The announcement of the seizure of the large arms shipment coincided with the presence of a presidential committee led by the Yemeni chief of staff following the escalating crisis between the local authority and tribal opponents of the presence of Saudi forces in the province.

The state Information Centre published a photograph of the weapons contained in the consignment and the identity of the Omani person who was driving the vehicle loaded with the consignment.
